A fireplace is an architectural structure designed to host a burning place, a fir. Fireplaces were used ,historically, for the practical purposes of heating, cooking, and heating water for laundry and domestic uses. A fire is composed of a firebox (or firepit), a chimney (to allows exhaust smoke to escape). Additionnaly, a fireplace may have too foundation, hearth, firebox, mantelpiece, chimney's crane, grate, lintel, lintel bar, overmantel, damper, smoke chamber, throat or a flue. Mainly composed by brick of stone, this is often having a covering hat up the chimney to avoid rainwater in it.
